Caravel at the 49th Genoa Boat Show

Caravel will be present at the next Boat Show in Genova (3rd - 11th October).
Our stand is located in Padiglione C - Atrio Superiore - Stand M19.
By visiting our stand you can personally see and verifiy our new puller-fitter for hydrolubricated bearings, with its new and improved mechanics and its new method to mount and dismount the bearings.
You can also see some samples of our products, such as aluminium bearings and involute channel bearings and get more detalied technical information about them.

Puller-fitter: new kit

Starting from May 2009 the puller-fitter kit has been improved in terms of usability.
Every single step of the operations to dismount and to mount a bearing is now easier and faster.
Caravel can now provide this kit in few days, even if the tools are not available in stock: the manufacturing requires now shorter time and you won't wait days or weeks to use the puller-fitter.
In case of order, shipyards and workshops which already use a T08 or a T13 will receive this new kit (whcih can also work with the pics of the old kit).
If you do not have a puller-fitter yet we can submit you an offer with these new working tools.

On our web site (page about the puller-fitter) you can see two clips. These clips are always available on You Tube: the first one shows how to pull an old bearing out of the strut, the second one shows how to insert a new bearing.

Caravel products for agriculture and industry (nuclear power plants, hydroelectric generating stations, paper mills, dredging machines, turbines)

Caravel manufactures since the 1950’s metal and rubber bearings and chromium-plated bushes for large water movement machines, for vertical pumps, submersible pumps, turbines, etc.
Its experience is not limited to navigation and cooperation with shipyards and shipbuilders.
Caravel manufactured more than 4,000 different types of bearings with different internal shapes (axial, involute or helicoidal channels), with outer shell made of iron or stainless steel.
Caravel can also supply bearings with antiabrasive rubber or Viton rubber: this last kind of rubber is useful to pump hydrocarbons (see the download page of our web site http://www.caravel.it/ to read and/or download a technical document about these two kinds of rubber).
All these products can be used in different fields: agriculture, nuclear plants, hydroelectric generating stations, paper mills, dredging machines, turbines etc.
Another important product by Caravel are the chromium-plated bushes, delivered in brass with a chromium lining on the outer shell (from 0,06 mm. to 0,20 mm.).
These items are used in order to protect the vertical pumps shaft from the wear provoked by sand. This system permits very good savings on the costs of the spare-parts, as it avoids the replacement of the shafts. Our manufacturing quality system permits to obtain a very small degree of eccentricity. Manufactured in different dimensions: the external clearances are fitted to the connection with metal-rubber bearings, and the internal tolerances are available by request.

Thanks to its experience and well developed Quality System, Caravel is a reliable partner for the most important turbine and pump builders Italy, Europe and all over the world: we are proud to supply all the well-known firms in this field.

The Ploughing system for large dimension bearings

Patented by Caravel, for the construction of large dimensions bearings (minimum diameter of axis 80 mm. - maximum diameter of axis 500 mm.) this system allows to set up the bearing avoiding the construction of the inner core for the forming.
Further to the economical one, this system offers other advantages:
- Higher precision on the dimension of the inner diameter, which is made possible by the use of an inner round core, without protrusions and which can be grinded and brought into centesimal tolerances.
- Achievement of ray channels which increase the capacity and the duration of the bearing, especially when the axis works horizontally for a question of weight.
- Disablements: once the life of the bearing finishes, after the grinding of the axis it is possible to grind in equal measure the core for the stamping and obtain a new bearing with the inner diameter adapted to the new measure of the axis.
- Last but not least important advantage of the ploughing system, is the remarkable reduction of the delivery terms that go down from approximately 20 days to only 4-5 working days.

You can see in the image here above the smoothness, the precision and the cleanness of the inner rubber surface of the bearing: these qualities are a clear proof of the great reliability of our products.

Don't forget that these bearings are often mounted on large boats and on luxury boats whose towing may be difficult and expensive.
